紋章 • 「聖書」は福音（良き知らせ）を、「色のちがう手」は多様な人々（人種、世代、性別、立場など）が交わりのうちに福音を生き、伝えていく姿勢を示す。「背景の青」には聖母マリアに取りなしを願う思いが込められている。   • 「海と山」、「魚と稲穂」は新潟、山形、秋田３県の豊かな自然といのちの恵みを表す。「魚」はイエス・キリストのシンボルであり、「稲穂」は信仰の豊かな実りと謙虚な生き方を表す。

The coat of arms • The bible represents the Gospel, which is the Good News, and the hands in different colours signify living and spreading the Gospel together with people diverse in ethnicity, generation, gender and position. The blue background is a symbol of Mary, Mother of the Church, who we ask to intercede for us.   • The sea and the mountain, the fish and the rice ears symbolize the richness of nature and its bountiful life in the three prefectures of Niigata, Yamagata and Akita. The fish are the symbol of Jesus Christ. The rice ears show the abundant bounty of faith and a humble way of life.

Giải Thích Biểu Tượng Giám Mục: • Cuốn sách là biểu tượng của Tin Mừng, hai cánh tay có màu sắc khác nhau nói lên sự đa dạng của các dân tộc, thời đại, vị thế xã hội khác nhau, nhưng cùng nhau sống và chia sẻ Phúc Âm. Nền màu xanh là biểu tượng cho Đức Maria với ý nguyện xin Mẹ bầu cử cho. • Biển và núi, cá và bông lúa biểu thị cho sự phong phú về thiên nhiên và con người của 3 tỉnh Niigata, Yamagata và Akita. Ngoài ra, Cá còn là biểu tượng của Đức Giê-Su Ki-tô và bông lúa còn mang ý nghĩa cho sự đơm bông kết trái phong phú cũng như cách sống khiêm nhường.
