Today, on the Feast of the Annunciation, the communities of the Diocese of Niigata, in response to the Pope’s call and in connection with the universal Church, prayed for peace and the consecration of Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

At the Cathedral, I presided a Mass at 10:00 a.m., praying for peace and offered the Prayer for the Consecration of Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. In the homily, I introduced the message of a Holy Spirit Sister who stay in Ukraine, which I have already introduced on the website of the diocese.

At the Seitai Hoshikai, the Handmaids of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist in Akita, the sisters have been praying the Novena of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, prayer for Our Lady’s protection since the beginning of the war. In addition to the regular Rosary, in response to the Pope’s call, they have also offered the Eucharistic Adoration and Rosary for Peace in union with the people around the world.

We are united through prayer with the people in Ukraine, the people those who are exposed to violence, war and conflict. We trust that God will utilize our prayers to bring about peace. We believe that even a smallest act of love is an important step toward peace. We hope to continue walking together in solidarity with people in prayer. May Our Lady of Peace intercede for us.

本日、神のお告げの祝日に、新潟教区の各共同体では教皇の呼びかけに応え、全世界の教会とのつながりのうちに、ロシアとウクライナを聖マリアの汚れなきみ心に奉献する祈りを行いました。

新潟教会では午前10時より司教司式のミサを捧げ、平和のために祈り、ロシアとウクライナを聖マリアの汚れなきみ心に奉献する祈りを唱えました。説教では、すでに教区のホームページで紹介した、ウクライナにとどまっているシスターのメッセージを紹介しました。

秋田の聖体奉仕会では、戦争が始まってからシスターたちが聖母のご保護を求める祈り、神のいつくしみのチャプレットのノベナを繰り返しています。また、教皇の呼びかけに応えて通常のロザリオに加え、平和のための聖体礼拝とロザリオを世界の人々と心を合わせて捧げておられます。

わたしたちは、ウクライナの皆さん、戦争や紛争などの暴力にさらされている皆さんと、祈りによってつながっています。わたしたちの祈りを神が平和を実現するために用いてくださることを信じています。わたしたちのどんなに小さな愛の行いも、平和のための大切な一歩だと信じています。祈りによる連帯のうちに、ともに歩みを進めていきましょう。平和の元后である聖母マリアがわたしたちの祈りを取り次いでくださいますように。
